Civitas is union of citizens dedicated to improving neighborhood quality of life in the Upper East Side and East Harlem. I wanted their logo and branding to reflect an organization that is simulatenous prestigeous and down-and-dirty in a neighborhood that is old and elegant but also modern.
To reflect Civitas's duality, I worked with the visual language of antique wax seals, family crests, traidtional colors and symmetrical layouts, but the designs are minimalized and streamlined to feel fresh and contemporary
